Against the Rules germinated in the same place Second Chance at Forever did--and, in fact, was actually written first. I had gone with my co-workers (and my mother!) to a male dance revue, the first time I had seen men strip outside of a bachelorette party. I thought they were great--sweet and funny and a ton of fun. I started to think about what kind of heterosexual man would do this, and how his "job" would create conflict in a romance. Since this was only my third book, I knew I couldn't get too outrageous. So I made Nick's "alternate profession" secondary to his main career plan. Veronica was easy to discover after that. Ambitious, driven, and very conscious of image details, she's the opposite of Nick. Yet at their core, they both want the same things. . .

Natalie J. Damschroder is a name that just won’t be forgotten. Especially after reading the dynamo hit, Against the Rules. This one-sitting explosion is intense, heated and a wonderful story that tells it like it is and that we should “never judge a book by its cover.” Veronica and Nicholas learn this about one another and it’s a roller-coaster ride of emotion and stubbornness from both of these characters. Veronica carries herself well and controls her inner desires. Nicholas is nearly too sexy for words and I wouldn’t mind breaking all the rules with this hunky guy.

Damschroder expertly draws in the reader with realistic characters experiencing everyday problems; in her hands, Veronica and Nick’s relationship is sensual and romantic, providing a thoroughly effective escape for romance fans.

Natalie Damschroder does a fantastic job of leading the reader from the first page to the last in the divulging of Nicks secret to Veronica. When the secret is divulged she creates a great backdrop and scene filled with entertaining events and details. A great read, a sweet romance and a not to be missed ending!

The secrets made for some big challenges but not insurmountable ones if they found themselves taking a gamble on love. It made for very intriguing reading. The story of Ronnie and Nick is very sweet and tender. I recommend it to everyone.
